SPIGGA @ THE MIDDLE EAST - Boston, MA 05/24/06: massholes are tight
Current mood: curious

Massholes are very tight!!! indeed

So this guys walks in a bar with a duck and asks the barkeep for some water. Unfortunately the sox game was on and noboby cared.

After heading back to hartford for some needed shut eye, we readied ourselves for the reentry deeper into Mass. Cambridge was the desination, Central Square, the middleeast suckas!!! MY OLD STOMPIN' GROUNDS!!! So we scored this gig thru a friend thru a friend with the help from gio's brother Rafeal. four acts on a wednesday in the upstairs room. Classic!!!! So the other bands were very cool and boston-esque. an acoustic act started it, then "the big disappointments" jumped in got it going. i really liked these guys alot. the guys throwing the night and that booked us, got up there and did some dirt, mixing it up pretty hard. these guys were a classic boston sounding band to me from when i lived there in the mid 90's. Very interesting and loud. Our friends from CT, SCUBA were causing trouble next and got detention for rocking the classroom. Scuba has been around a long time and im so happy these cats are still doing it. i'm still trying to get a cd from jay the drummer to bring back west with me, to no avail. Spigga took the stage last, not really headlining, but getting our groove going for the brave musical misfits still in the building looking to avoid going home.

I gotta mention that my peeps were in the house, which was awesome as hell. Thanx and props are in order for my mens, DEE and Theo for getting the crowd and us into mood to rip. Theo fronts a rippin sly and the family band called "take you higher".The sets were short weighing in at 30-35 minutes, but thats really plenty of time to show your ass, and we definitely did that as did everybody on the stage. the sound man got it right again(hurray)and recorded the set for us.

It turned out clean and listenable. maybe we'll do a little something with it. who knows?

Anyways i miss boston dearly, and it's great to come back and play some funky music for folks in a town i love. mass ave baby. one love.

the second hartford show looms as we prepare to hit texas like a bad dog. get in the cage fido. first stop is houston, on friday night we play warehouselive early get over there.

SPIGGA @ THE LUCKY DOG MUSIC HALL - Worcester, MA 05/23/06: Worcester is saucy
Category: Music

Worcester is Saucy and,

The Lucky Dog Music Hall rocks so hard. So hard that they invited the SPIGGA machine to come wreck shop. I know your thinking, what the hell is the"luckydog" and where is Worcester. Well simply put the luckydog is great sounding and looking venue on green street in Worcester Mass. Of course there are a few colleges located there, most notably CLARK University.

So it's really a badass rock club that packs them in thursday thru sunday on the regular. We are breaking wind on a tuesday and pray some folks come out and bring incense with them. it will get funky, trust.

The luckydog is tight and pro, so the sound was on point and the sound guy(like in queens) was just awesome. We sounded great in the house and in the monitor mix. ahhhhh, gotta savior that combo as its rare on the road without our own engineer. We also brought some folks from CT with us to groove with us. Family really, so it was on when we hit the stage. We banged through the set, skillfully and tighter than ever. We are getting better folks and i'm psyched about that. A friend of mine from NH, that i haven't seen in more than 10 years came out to see us. My man Chuck was in the trenches with me in the always sticky orlando FL at FullSail center for the recording arts in 94/95. We were some of the proud music junkies that made it through the program and got busy in the music industry after graduating. thanx for hanging out with us.

So the show was another fun affair and we made some new friends, we hope to come back and get some more folks in the joint dancing.

next stop bean town/ well cambridge actually at the infamous, MiddleEast.

DC bound and the road is loverly. We hit the "grog and tankard" spot after carefully navigating from the harlem homebase provided by Coleen(word). This is a little spot in size but huge in character. The list of bands that have graced the stage is really amazing. It's pretty much the cbgb's of dc/georgetown. One of those small hole in the wall joints that always has live music and drinks flowin'. So for this sunday show it was no different. There were four acts playing and we had the 3rd slot. The first band was still rockin when we got there and loaded in. they were very cool and did their thing. the second act was an interesting acoustic act, with guitar, vox and drums. very cool and hypnotic. we hit the stage at about 11pm. Our bass mangler JC's wife and a girlfriend were whooping up the crowd and having a great time. JC happens to live down in the maryland area and had some friends show up and groove with us... thanx to all the folks that came out and supported us in DC and live music in general. Daphney thanx for your energy and enthusiasm at the show we really needed that, and thanx for accommodating us in your home as well. As for the GROG and TANKARD we will grace the stage again and I hope we rock another night with you.

The SpiGGa train pulled into the jackson heights area of Queens, NewYork. The club that put us on for this Saturday night show is D'Antiqua on northern blvd. The place is very nice and I really enjoyed the food. absolutely delicious spanish food.

the sound guy (Brian) was on top of things. he actually line checked us in the headphones.

It was a pure pro situation. we were chilling down in the greenroom watching an old police live dvd, throwing down on some food and drink waiting for the rest of the crew to arrive from their NYC excursions. A couple of the guys jetted early to NY to sight see and visit friends.

Leo hit the stage at 11:45 and woke up the joint with his emotional serenades. It seemed that we were dealing with a tough NY room, but the crowd definitely relaxed and got deep into the groove. As we played all the folks in the house were slowly filling the dance floor and shakin somethangs. things that need to be shook often.

I must say our set is getting tighter and we are making lots of new fans and friends. We hope to continue this fun and wild journey having loads of fun. Props to the Queens, jackson heights crowd for showing us love and to Coleen(Carla's better half) for putting us up in her harlem apartment for two nights... thanx thanx

we are taking the looooong drive down to DC as I type this. So i'll hit ya'll with the latest, when we land.

coffee, tea and tazza

Providence, rhode island is a very strange place. New England style town complete with several colleges Within the city limits and a bunch of nightspots to snare the extra cash mom and dad have stuffed into the pockets of their young adults. The tazza cafe is situated in the lovely downtown area and actually has a full bar for the drinkers and an assortment of teas and coffees for the javaheads. We pulled into town with time to spare, thanx to our resident navagator/driver JC. the unloading ritual commenced and we got the sound up and running. The tazza is a beautiful cafe with a nice size stage to boot. The pa is small and built for vocals and acoustic instruments, So we went easy on it.

our set was another long straight joint and we busted the spigga stylings on the folks in the place. Thats why we are here. things ended early and we had a blast up in the providence area and hope to be back again. great times as we head back to NYC, Queens to precise to rock it at D antiquas.

ooh baby i like it RAW

hartford! HARTFORD! my town and my people. the crowd at the outdoor show at RAW( real art ways) reflected all that hartford is to me. it's a diverse city with all kinds of folks doing all sorts of things together. So we are just getting in to town from the philly show and made a pretty impressive drive time. we pull into the arbor street lot and begin the load in ritual. they've got a tent and soundsystem all ready set up for us. the gear made it way into postion and we soundchecked as the art crowd filed in to see the amazing ARTWORK INSIDE THE GALLERY. If your in the htfd area you've got to check what they're showing over at RAW. seriously check 'em out. anyways we were pretty loud and got all the levels into place.

When i say all my friends and family were at the joint, i mean all of them!!! This show was special to us, as it's our first time playing in our hometown for all of our old bandmates and friends. we started it off with our man LEO MACHADO doing his

thing and getting the crowd primed. we hit the stage/tent and rocked through an extended set including rare live versions of "yo te conosco" and "don juan". I personally thought "lastnight" our indie rock diddy was stellar. Anyways we had fun and the band is really jelling. By next week we should be airtight.

I think we gained some new fans at this show and hopefully can see some new faces at our next hartford show, thursday may 25th at sully's. check the spigga event list. www.myspace.com/spigga

tasty cakes, tasty cakes.... Man hostess aien't got nothing on those butterscotch tasty cakes son....they're delicious as is the city of brotherly love. Philladelphia is a hop, skip and a jump from NewYork and totally bordering New jersey. We were up in that piece in no time. The spot we were lighting up is called the FIRE and is lucky situated next to a fire/rescue house. The Fire is one of my favorite type of bar/music halls

It's got the bar area/room for your liquid refreshment needs and an enclosed performance room to let the bands cold rip without sending the bar regulars headed to thier dreaded homes. it's wednesday night and we are playing with a local band called strangers vibe. check them out on myspace they're a great group of guys playing some jam band/phish-ish type of fun grooves. they had a nice late crowd come in late to party with them after midnight. unfortunatly we hit the stage at 10pm and played for them and a few our philly fans. i thought we did pretty good and our unit is getting tighter and tighter. We played our 45-50 min set and cleared the stage for strangers vibe. philly was a blur. it came and went and we hope to be back in early august. thaanx and props to the friendly and helpful staff and crew at the fire and to strangers vibe and jamie for giving us slot in which to makes some bilingual noise for the beautiful folks in the joint.

Spigga makes its live debut in the city. NEW YORK CITY people, it's been a long journey for us but we finally made it. Our first NY venue "THE DELANCY" is on delancy street and has three floors of booze and music... Our destination is the basement club, playing a hip latino dance/rock night called discoteque. it was originally held at CAKESHOP, but made the move due to attendance and popularity.

So after several flights and miles driven we all met up and pitched our tent in hartford CT(my childhood hood) and ran through a few songs to refresh the reformed unit known simply as SPIGGA. The Bands' new configuration is untested, but potentially explosive if direct contact is made with your eardrum, after affects may include ass shakin, sweaty armpits and frequent causal sexual encounters. Groove to spigga at your own risk people.

So this tour we are lucky to be rollin in JC's truck, a super comfy ford that seats 8..We decided to go with a trailer for our equipment to keep things spacious. We finally hit the road after 8pm and headed toward NYC. the crew got safely to the delancey at about 11:30pm. We were scheduled to hit at midnight after LEO MACHADO did his acoustic set. Once again our comrade in music did an amazing job getting the crowd groovin'. We hit the stage with a new set list and plowed through the set. With Carla P on Background vox and JC keeping the bass tight and vocalising too this was gonna be a thick sounding set/tour. As we started the ever thinning crowd watched and swayed with us, it was a real school night, but it was NY and the diehards were there and thats who we love to play for anyway. It really felt like strong performance and we look forward to playing in queens on saturday may 20th. SEE YOU THERE!!!!!! next is PHILLY at joint called "the fire"....

SPIGGA @ POUNDERS, LAS VEGAS 05/07/06: pounded in the face!
Current mood: spiggafine

Las vegas people... SPIGGA in LAS VEGAS folks....ummm,
is this thing on? So after doing our thing in LA and
getting reaquainted with band members of old, We
jumped in a couple cars and headed in the direction of
sincity number one!!!las vegas baby. Our drive down
was mellow and very quick. we pulled straight into the
stripmall lot of the club we were playing that night
to scope out the joint. it's on west sahara and it's
called "pounders"... Pounders is one of those
sportbars that you to get your drink on. In vegas
every bar had digital slots and built in poker
machines and whatnot. You can count on getting broke
any damn where in this town on the strength!!! We got
booked at pounders on the strength of the music up at
our myspace page. The night was definitely a rock en
espanol night with a couple djs spinning cds for the
people. unfornuately we (SPIGGA) don't really play alt
rock, hard rock or ska, so we barely mix well in that
scene. But never stopped a spigga, we still show are
asses though and play no matter what. So it's a sport
bar and it's more of a rock/ska scene.. So what!!

After hitting the hotel and reaching out to some
friends and stuffing the gut we headed back to the
club to set up and get in gear to rock our set at
11pm. I know it seems late but vegas is a true all
night city.

As we loaded in we realized that PA was far from ready
for us and thier was only one mic available and no
stands...If you've read any of these blogs you know i
wont blame the club PA for a poor perfomance, that's
just lame and wack. The real issue was that thier was
no engineer running things and I suspect most bands
that do play this venue either bring their own system
or just bring mics/stands and only run vocals through
the PA. We were in for a distorted night as we were
running sequence drums tracks and synths this show(ala
the last argus gig). all i an say is we got set up and
did our best and really had fun. as for the masses...I
know they really liked LEO MACHADO our acoustic opener
and west coast bass man. I've got to give it up to him
as he really played a great set and held it down. We
are bringing this cat east with us to show everybody
how talented he is. check out LEO and his june 2006
acoustic tour on www.myspace.com/leomachado !!!!!

After our set we were serenaded with shouts of
inducing an encore, but we had none to give and really
were finshed for the night. THANX TO POUNDERS, THE
PROMOTERS and DJs for having us, We will return to
rock again.. THANX to the folks in the house and
freinds that made the journey, one love...and next
time you will dance!!!!!

Hey there, folks! It's those guys and girls again!!!
Well, we hit up the knitting factory stage in LA for a
second time and I love that spot... They run a smooth operation
and they get you up and playing in no time... the folks that was
there seemed to be chillin while enjoying the multiple
band night.

See, there are two stages in this joint, separated by a
wall and a door of course and you enter through the
first stage room and may just hang out grab a drink
and never see the bands you came to see in the second
room...Well, the crowd was light as we went early, but
not first BTW. The first band was Omar Torres group
and these guys were PRO. These cats were tight as hell
and a tough act to follow. Omar is a gifted singer and
guitar player. You should definately check him out for
some soulpoplatin fusion.

So your boys from the SPIGGA NATION hit the stage with
musical vengence coarsing through their vains. JC aka
CORNELIUS aka "my bass is tight" our eastcoast bass
man, was on bass gearing up for the eastcoast tour.
OLD SPIGGA HEADS will remember him as the tall bass
playing cowboy. This cat is spigga to the core! On the
bass; he does that thing, people. Our girl on the vox,
TARA, was on the stage with us holding it down, too. She
was awesome. When she is with us we always sound good.
We did our set, holdin' it down and bringing it raw as
always... It was the first time we hadn't played our
signature radio tune "people of the sun"
even though the DJ played it before in his set. Folks and
friends in the spot really seemed to feel the vibes.
Thanx to all ya'll who come out and have fun with us
on the regular, props also to the first timers fans
and bands we play with on these crowded stages.

So i got to mention this group that hit the stage
after us before I sign off. Cubiky... CUBIKY, My
friends, they are fucking awesome. I really love their
sound and vibes. They have the sound that i love the
visuals were dope and insync with the music. they
sound like a latin language beck/basehead/newwave type
of unit with dance beats and dope lyrics. I've met
these guys before and really liked their cd, but
seeing them rock was dope.

We are on to VEGAS and then to the beastcoast, pls
come out and get sweaty with us.

SURPRISE SPIGGA GIG 04/13/06 IL PIRATA SF: Cat in the Hat

SURPRISE SPIGGA GIG 04/13/06 IL PIRATA SF: Cat in the Hat
Current mood: Spigtastic

This is not a Dr Seuss story, but I am from Whoville!!!

Gio and I have got a dear friend in sf that we grew up with back east named CAT. We've lost touch a bit when we moved over the bay bridge to oakland in 99'. You see upon arriving west in 97' My family lived in the haight ashbury area in Sf. Okay we lived basically at the famous corner across from the ben and jerrys. CAT lives in potero hill and always has. anyways when one moves to the eastbay it's a damn impossible task to get folks from SF (especially) over the bridge and to stay in close contact form that matter. So after not hearing from folks for stretch, we (SPIGGA) were called by a friend, tellings us that CAT was in need and a benefit had been setup at a venue called "il pirata"(in potero hill) and would we bust a set for the cause. Well needless to say we said yes!

It was the shortest spigga set as it was only gio and myself for this special set (including a very karaoke version of NIN's Terrible Lie). but we had some fun and played some close friends a few tunes. Just for love and a friend...

CAT we love you...

Alright alright so did you hear the one about the Dominican guy, the Black guy, the Nicaraguan guy, and the Irishman?

Well they all play in a band called Spigga and did a dandy set at the Argus Lounge in San Francisco.

It was set to be an early affair complete with homecookin' (by my wife Eileen) and piles of free stuff for the broken. An interesting note pertaining to this gig was that our drummer Benji was on the fritz and in the shop, so we pulled out my trusty groovebox (midi sequencer with sounds/drummachine) and devoed the damn show. If you've seen the band before you'll remember that the sequencer nicknamed "the box" was always in attendance at events and known to get the cellulite shakin'. Well we opted to go full live new band for the rage tour and had a blast doing it. We did plan to bring back the box and intergrate it with the new band eventually, but we got thrown into "box mode" when Benji broke (thank god for warrantees).

We stood around profiling for a bit as our crowd had not made the early start time of 8pm... Bad fans!!! bad fans!!! anyways the Argus crew understood and let us wait it out till 9pm, thanx thanx...some folks did show and support the Spigga machine noteably, Brad Electro, Risbo,
Eric Santero (Cookie Monster), Per Marshall, and all the real fans up in there. that means you!!! I see u Spence!

So we started our set and had a few musical surprises in there for heads. We did an hour and had to pack up as I had another show at the Regency ballroom(SF) with the Playground People at 12:45am.( dont ask!!!) www.myspace.com/playgroundpeople

Folks did seem to enjoy the show and asked when we'd be back. We let 'em know as you already know that we're headed east may 16th-29th for a mini Eastcoast and Texas ass kicking. look for us in june or july back at our favorite spot in San Francisco on mission street, past Cesar Chavez... the Argus Lounge baby, its Dope!

and that spigga ripped to damn shreads... haaaa haaaa!!!!

OK, we tore the corners off the joint and neatly folded them, but man, it's an honor to have played at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. That is a great place to hear a band, see a band and for a band to play it's just dope. So we rolled in got wristbands and got comfy in a green room upstairs. Man, that place seems so big inside. So many rooms and stairs. The security guy up stairs was laughing at me as i was totally winded everytime I approached. Blanco was in the early stages of a heavy flu and just chilled out solo and rested till show time. The rest of the band including me was giddy as hell! We were smiling and preparing to play it cool for the crowd when the curtain opened and Spigga was announced over the PA...
the sound crew was badass and pro and helped get us on the stage and sounding sweet.
The stage volume was a little weak and I still couldnt hear my guitar with the band playing, but shit I hear it sounded awesome out front! We did our set after a band called Fitter cold rocked shit. They were stylistically a great match with their music being all over the place genre wise. They sounded tight too. I really liked them.

Some guys from the rage tour including Rick(head of the tour) from Verdad y Justica were in the house checking out the show. If you don't know about them find out something, google is your friend people. I must say, Blanco brought it that night with reckless abandon. He was totally sick and just did his damn thing, including jumping off the stage and commandeering the crowd into singing the "people of the sun" chant... It was vintage Gio and I love that kinda energy. i was thinking of jumping out there myself but I may have hurt some folks and went through the floorboards as well. I quickly came to my senses and stayed put on stage.

Our set flew by as usual and we headed straight out to get back and rest our asses before I flew back to oakland in the morning. I thought we did well and represented Spigga well that night. We played a nice set of 5 or 6 songs and had fun.

It's time now to plan our next move in our quest for world domination!!! Hahaaaa, be ready!

i'll get back atcha.

SPIGGA @ THE BALAZO GALLERY SF 02/13/06: at the blah blah in San Francisco
Current mood: apathetic
Category: Blogging

The balazo gallery is a pretty interesting place. It's pretty underground if you want the truth located at 18th and mission. The joint is damn cool if you ask me especially the depth and artist look of the interior. the tourdate was booked for a monday night and was an all ages event complete with 7pm start time. I am sorry but, nothing starts at 7pm, that has anything to do with rocknroll or live multi band shows. Who is gonna hit the stage at 7pm and rock shit for noone?ummm bueller? Needless to say we didn't even roll in till 8pm with an extra drumkit in tow for the 2nd stage. See this show proved to be an interesting exercise in "just let it go" land for spigga.

I live in the bayarea so it's kinda my stomping grounds up here in northern cali, but a monday night is still a monday night even deep in the mission district or any city(except newyork) it's hard to get shit poppin on mondays is my point. we where slated to hit second to last sort of in the home stretch of the night at 10:20 pm or somewhere around there.

The cool idea came about to have 2 stages that way the next band could hit right after the previous band on the other stage. thats a beautiful idea but had not been throughly thought out. first of all you need 2 sets of backline, which is stage equipment for the bands. to cut down on lagtime venues/promoters/a band will provide amps and drums for all acts playing. Well we had some backline provided unselfishly by "stoic frame" that we'd been rockin through the whole tour. but thats one set of backine for one stage. So i opted provided my wifes practice kit for the second stage and hoped things would go smooth. D lok our resident guitargod was willing to have his fender deluxe rocked by others but that's basically all we had really. As the show on stage one started, smartly the second stage idea was scrapped as there was only one pa in the room. ONE PA!!! it was barely one pa, as seemed to be a pa head with three mics and couple of home made speaker boxes. I don't avocate hating and try my hardest not diss folks that i know are just doing their best, but damn!!! that was abit too underground for 7 bands to be playing through in my estimation. my studio rehearshal pa would eat that system up and could shit out a better sounding pa. but i i'm not gonna rant or fault anybody, because you must work with what you have, and all the bands did their sets and got the small but growing crowd into it reguardless of any sound problems.

This show strayed time wise similarly to the bakersfield show, despite the bands valiant efforts to quickly breakdown and setup. Subsequently, sets were cut down to 3 three songs each. i know Booo!!!! Unfortunately for the bands going on later/last, that development didnt reach the bands and they didn't really cut their sets back. it was now deemed 2 songs will be played by the remaining three bands which were stoic frame, spigga and afixion. stoic played 3 songs, we did 2 and afixion rebeliously did four tunes... the show ran over closing time and im not sure what the repurcussions were. thats just rock n roll in espanol i guess... im getting older and thats just reality. we(spigga)broke it down and parted ways as i was staying up north for valentines and rejoining them down in LA on wednesday for the house of blues show.

my man ribso(soulminerecords) was in the crowd witnessing whole situation and seemed to genuinely enjoy himself. A couple ABCP(abandcalledpain) cats were up in the joint too. Those guys rip shit!!! I think the background tour stress and event mess are usually lost on the audence and thats a good thing. The crowd was interested and nodding to the bands as cameras were videoing and snapping off digital images of the carnage.

I really thought that everbody had a powerful showing this night. of note "stoic frame" rocked the damn house, props fellas."afixion" in their rebellion did it to the stage doggy style. it was beautiful thinking they would finish a song and be done and yet they'd launch into more grooves. Pro fi cia is always on point and are really affective everynight. COATL i must say cold killed it and exhibited so much energy for such an early slot. yeah i cant pronounce the name correctly but i spelled it right so look them up. COATL really are what this tour is about!!! props to y'all.

everybody gets my respect for showing up and playing their music their way!!!

big show at the house of blues in la!!!!NEXT!!!

stay up

well friends

I must say there are those times you cherish and store in the best of times folder in your memory banks. The argus lounge show on febuary 12th is one of those times for me. Spigga is favorite project of mine for many many reasons. As we've decided to transform the recording project into a full live band for this rage enspanol tour i've had my reservations as to how well it really works on stage. Now everybody in the band can play and is very talented, but i'm unable to experience our show fully from the otherside. and never will. anyways this show at a really really cool lounge in sf was the test for me. The www.arguslounge.com is a deep mission street bar completely hidden accept for a really beautiful peacock feather painting on the front. the inside has such a personal touch I felt like my old roommate got crazy creative in the joint. It's a very comfy atmoshpere and yes the booze is flowin and the pool table is in the back so you can escape the crowd as you concentrate on your next shot. another thing of note about the argus lounge is the jukebox... it rocks ass truly. imagine if you owned a jukebox and could put your favorite albums and mixed cd/tapes in. That's whats in there kids... lastly the owners and staff are well, real people. good people and cool enough to let an obnoxious loud, new band come in on a few days notice and play their music.

now why does this gig stick in the mind? It's cause the folks in the bar. from regulars, to the freinds that made it down, to the bands on tour comin through to casey selling our damn cds(thanx so much). to the owner spencer murray(a freind) thanking us for doing the show, when i was certain i should be thanking him.

set was loose and fun, folks were grooving. that's why we do this.

SPIGGA @ THE DOME BAKERSFIELD 02/11/06: pattycake pattycake bakersfield !!!!! spigga
Current mood: okay

blogging you down,

hey there folks, sorry for the delay on writing the bakerfield entry, but theres no internet in bakersfield(I kid you). the hotel california, where we stayed was internetless and cheap as hell. it was really a days inn with the sign covered up. anyways we were happy to have rooms and somewhere to lay our things till show time at "the dome". we were due on at 12midnite.
but that was a bit ambitious as we would find out later. the dome was a dope venue though people.. It was like a mini bostongarden or something. Its basically a round wrestling/boxing arena. but miniture. I loved the look of it, but the sound was shit!!!! i won't mention anymore about that as it's life on the road and sometimes you'll be running out of an awesome PA with great monitors and the next night your playing through a kickerbox.

So we find the venue at about 11pm, load in and check out some of our fellow tour mates sets. this was the first time i saw some of the bands. They were awesome and very energetic. the small crowd in this vast echoing hall would really get into the band and then the set would end of course. well things got sticky in the timing dept. and the last three bands including us where cut down to 2 song sets... yes two songs, but for these guys ill always take one for team. we did our short short set as did the others and played hard like we meant it. two songs and get off means get it done fast and dont front. we did our thing as usual. people dug it. we had fun. the venue closed early due to low attendance and we all headed to slumberville.

The morning was cool as i awoke to the noise of the baseball team taking up the entire downstairs floor leaving for the game in full oaklanmd a's knockoff uniforms... canada(spanish) with the squiggle over the N was pasted over the chest. anyways we went for grub at heehaw-land(buck owens palace) before hitting the freeway to the bayarea for our sf shows. buck owens was the blonde lead guy on heehaw with roy clarke(the darkhaired round guy). man buck owen runs bakersfield. kinda. ok hes a staple of the bakersfield landscape and his chrystal palace brunch is a tourist trap complete with lifesize bronze statues of country legends. ummm elvis was immortalized too of course.

in the words of tencious d: Man the road fuckin hard!!!the is fuckin tough!!!

but you gotta do your thing...

next up is san francisco at the argus lounge on sunday feb 12 and the balazo gallery on monday feb13th...

goodnight ya'll

back to the blogfoolery, Soooo we played the westchester bar and grill last night(a rock espanol punk club) it was fun, we actually played first at about 9pm or so and we played to a few folks and gained at least one fan by doing that spigga thing that we do. we switched up the set a bit to get a little harder/rockish and it worked. I really like what we are doing and im hoping if we get anything from this tour we get better and more comfortable on stage playing these diverse crazy tunes. opportunites are always right around the corner so we are just getting started folks. we were givin some great news last night before the show as well. The single we did for the comp and our album "people of the sun" is currently number six on the latin alt radio charts nationwide!!!! yeah i know what does that mean... it means radio stations are getting the single and they're adding it to the playlist....whoooo hooo!!!!

SPIGGA @ JC FANDANGO'S ANAHEIM 02/09/06: jc fandangos down, westchester in our sights

jc fandangos down, westchester in our sights

well it was an interesting first night for us and everyone i suspect. the venue, jc fandangos is an amazing room to play. It's sound system is top notch and the folks working there are the shit. awesome spot i must say and i'd play there again without hesitation. We actually play there over a year ago and had a not so stellar experience. We were booked with a very very very popular band from mexico and lets just say we were very hard pressed to find fans... it was still dope though, we lived!

So this first gig was abit behind schedule, but not to bad at all considering we had 9 bands playing 20 minute sets. The show was decently attended and thinned considerably as the night went on. we hit at about 11:30ish and did our thing after "inner city soul" did their damn thang complete with horns and mcs. man that was great to hear, as im looking forward to playing more eith those guys fo sho!!!! i personally thought the band "nefril" wrecked the stage with great songs and pro showmanship. they had synth sequence stuff running underneath live bass, guitar and drums. oohhh that drum was soooo dope!!!! the singer/bass player sounded great as well. their energy inpsired me to just set up calmly and play our spigga shit just like we do!!! we went on one band after them guys.

All the bands sounded great especially afoixion which i saw for the first time that night. damn them cats are a true band in the every sense of the word. great things will come to those guys i believe, i hope spigga will get to that level of tightness and fearlessness.

well ive rested a spell and watched 5 episodes of THE JOB starring dennis leary(on dvd) and i feel tonite in LA will be rockin!!!

stay tuned till tommorrow as i hope to get some audio one of these nights...

jaswho loves you

believe that!!!

SPIGGA @ The Fire - 05/17/06:Roll up that Philly

roll up that philly

tasty cakes, tasty cakes....
